Volunteer Requirements
The Hurricanes have adopted the Basketball Nova Scotia screening policy for volunteers. This policy requires you to have the following:
- Register as a Staff Member on RAMP via http://halifaxhurricanes.rampregistrations.com/ (Though of most importance, you will need to complete steps 2-4 to register on RAMP).
- Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC) (commonly referred to as a criminal background check).
Your E-PIC must not be older than 3 years from October 31.
If you do not have an E-PIC, you can request one during the Coach/Staff Registration process discussed below. The system bills the club. You can complete your Coach/Staff Registration and send us the E-PIC once you have it. Please email hhbasketballclub@gmail.com for assistance.
- Basketball Nova Scotia Screening Disclosure Form.
You need to complete and submit a Disclosure Form to us every year. BNS has agreed to accept this instead of requiring a new E-PIC and CAR every year. The form can be downloaded https://cloud.rampinteractive.com/HalifaxHurricanesBasketball/files/BNS-Screening-Disclosure-Form.pdf Complete this and have it ready to submit with your Coach/Staff Registration.

5. Club Coaching Orientation.
The Board of the club will provide this to you during a brief introduction prior to your Minimum Coach Education session.
Every volunteer needs to register with the club at: HalifaxHurricanes.rampregistrations.com
If you do not already have a RAMP account, you will need to create one. Once you have an account, you will have to add yourself as a “Family Member”. The participant form asks for the typical personal information. You can ignore the options to upload documents on the initial screen; we will get to uploads on a subsequent screen.
Once you have yourself set up as a Family Member, you are ready to follow the “Registration” link and then select “Coach/Staff Registration”.
The first page of your Coach/Staff Registration imports your Family Member personal information. You need to select the “Role” you wish to register for. The system forces you to pick only one role, so just pick the one you like best even if you are willing to take on other roles. We can change things on our end later if need be. If you do not have an E-PIC, this is where you can request one by ticking the box where it says “I would like to complete an Enhanced Online Police Information Check (Criminal Record Check)”.
The next page contains our policies. The page after that is where you can upload your E-PIC, CAR, Disclosure Form, and VSS if you already have them. If you do not have them, you can proceed to complete your registration and send us these documents by e-mail to hhbasketballclub@gmail.com once you have them. You must have all required documents to us no later than November 15 of the in-season year.
Once you are registered and have sent us all your required documents, you are good to go.
